Jumping cursor

I have new Dell Latitude E 6400 (Windows 7) and am having problems with the cursor jumping all over the place when I am typing. I'll be in the middle of something and all of a sudden the cursor has moved to a different line and what I am typing is in the middle of the wrong sentence.

Thinking I might have been inadvertantly brushing the touchpad I disabled it but the problem still exists. It has taken me about 5 minutes to type these few sentences because I have to keep correcting.

Any ideas? Thanks
