This article is a bit long but well worth the time. Maybe a vision of things to come.
At one time, Detroit was the 4th largest city in the US. Now it has miles of abandoned property and 27% unemployment even after more than half the population has moved out. No commercial investment or excitement in sight except a return to something as basic as food.
I find it such an irony that the parents and grandparents of the present residents left the farm for the big manufacturing plants and now some will complete the circle by returning to ag for a living albeit with different methods.
