Abracadabra

barmera, Australia

In the latest newsletter for Dave's garden there is a heading of Hybrid T Rose 'abracadabra'. Unless I'm not reading right, and this could be the case, this rose is NOT abracadabra. Can anyone enlighten me please. Colleen

It is not the one released here as Abracadabra, Colleen
Ours was variegated one.

The pink one shown is a release by Warriner in 1991
The red/yellow one that we have was released in2002 by Kordes

The one that I know as abracadabra, Dianne, is maroon with yellow splotches. I googled the name and that's what I came up with as well. It's a registered name so I dont see how there could be 2 Hybrid T roses called Abracadabra. Anyone else got any ideas? Colleen

This is the Abracadabra that I know a Kordes & Sons patented Hybrid Tea. You may have to look at more than one photo to get the true Red with Yellow stripes bloom.

Sometimes things are named differently in different countries
eg we have a Pink Panther registered brugmansia here in Australia and there is one also in america that is not the same plant.
I have seen many roses that for whatever reason are named under different names overseas. Some of our films have different release names too.

This one in australia is listed as released in 2005 by Korhoesel (a sport of Frisco).
I missed the letter you were talking about.

Have a look at this site it explains both roses.

I retract that, for some reason it won't go direct....
just key in Abracadabra into google this site comes up and evidently there are 2
roses of the same name in the US. why? who knows.

The bloom of the day Abracadabra was released by Warriner in 1992 and registered as JACbute. The Abracadabra that I know was released by Kordes in 2002 and registered as KORhocsel. Sorry to cause a fuss. It seems that the plant world is a bit like human names. You can register someone as Micheal but you always have the people who change it to Mick. Colleen
