I have my fix of spring flowers, but they smell awful.
Narcissus flowering
ha, they look so nice, but sometimes smell like cat p**.
They smell awful, but they do bring spring a little closer.
The bulbs smelled awful too. I could not tell what was smelling so bad until I realized I had the bulbs sitting there. Once they were potted the smell went away, but the flowers are just as bad. I have the pots in a back window far from where I sit,but where I can see them.
Caroline,
Were the bulbs pre-chilled or do they need to be to bloom?
Joanne
I don't know as I bought them at Sunnyside and they lay around for a few weeks at room temp. Then I potted them. They were just in an open bin at the store so I do not think they were chilled at all. I did not chill them.
I'm afraid I gave up on growing them because of the powerful "fragrance".
Happy New Year to everyone!
Hyacinths are a better choice as they smell nice when flowering.
I have bulbs in the frig and should pot them up.
Going to seed begonias under lights because I can't wait!
Caroline
Happy New Year!
Hyacinths have a lovely perfume, but for me it's way too strong to have in the house. I love them in the garden in the spring. I'm afraid I didn't get any bulbs for forcing this year. Should have done so.
