Prining with card stock on your printer

I think I"m going to make "Thank you" type cards using some of my garden images.

what would be the best way to go about this? I'd hate to buy a lot of card stock, only to have it too thick for my printer, or buy somethign too thin.

does anyone do this?? and is there some type of card stock that would be like "glossy" photograph paper?
