I have a large Endless Summer in a large pot------about 15 inches in diameter. Is it safe to leave outside over the winter or should I move it to my enclosed porch for the winter? I live in Zone 7b?
Thanks,
Shirleyd
Over wintering in a pot?
being in a pot will not give it much winter protection....I would move it to your enclosed porch.
It should be OK outside--being in a container tends to knock about a zone off the hardiness, and since ES is hardy to zone 5 it should be alright in zone 7 in a pot. To be a bit safer though sink the pot in the ground, that way the roots are more insulated if you do get a really cold spell.
Thanks to all who answered. It sounds like the easiest thing is to bring it in on the porch. I could not dig a hole large enough for the pot.
Thank you,
Shirleyd
All mine have done fine in pots in zone 7, so long as I don't forget to occasionally water them, fyi.
