Arte these red candles?

Pasig City, Philippines

I wanted to add a few more flowering plants in my garden and my supplier provided me with these two plants as shown in the picture. He said they are candle plants. Google has lots of info on the yellow candle but none on the red one. Are these really red canlde plants?

As far as I know and recall, Pachystachys lutea is the yellow shrimp plant and Justicia brandegeana is the red shrimp plant. Both are growing in my yard (as perennials) and both look the same as far as leaf and bloom shapes.

Yes, the yellow plant is Pachystachys lutea.

I think the red flowered plant may be Ruellia colorata. Can you show a close-up of the flowers?

Hi KayJones!

Are shrimp plants the same as candle plants? Google shows the same type of flowers for them.

Hello, Metrosideros!

What's the difference between Ruellia colorata and justica brandegeana? They somewhat look alike in pictures. I will get a close-up picture of my red plant when I visit my garden this weekend. I had planted it already around a growing tree as you can see in the picture.

If you Google the terms + Images, you will easily see the difference.

Yes, they are also called 'candle' plants.
