Pittsburghers and other nearbys, help!

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 5b)

I KNOW there are native plant sales here in Spring and Fall, but I always seem to hear about them after they're over.

Does anyone know of a mailing list or calendar somewhere?

This is PA Native Plant Society list of native plant sources. Some may host sales. (The closest to us is Doyles near Lancaster. They host the native plant sale run by the master gardeners in York County here.) I will try to think of other ideas. Your nearest Penn State Extention office might be a good source for info too. I'm sure you can get on some mailing lists of suppliers and/or the Extention. Some might be through e-mail.

CompostR - you keep showing up when I ask questions!

:)

I know the Audubon Society has one I always seem to miss.

Wonder if there's a garden club somewhere that has a good calendar including ALL the sales?

I cannot find a calendar. Hey – maybe you should do one! It would take a lot calls and I'm not sure organizations even have an exact date this far in advance of Spring sales (?).

You probably have these already (I think most are in your area):

List of PA native plant sellers:

Audobon (you mentioned):

I like doing "research" - always learn something. It would be nice to have such a calendar for my area too. But, I don't have the time right now. Good idea though.

Did you talk to the folks at Sylvania Natives? I guess technically they have a sale all the time, but I bet they're pretty hooked in to what else is going on in the region.

http://www.iconservepa.org has the start of a calendar. Maybe you could poke at them and make a point of submitting anything you learn of.

Don't forget to glance towards Ohio. I think their flora will be more like yours than yours is like Philadelphia.

Thanks both of you!

Just about anything at this point. I KNOW there are sales to attend and browse, but I seem to always find out about them right after.

I have a small garden, but would like the majority of what I put in it from hence forward to be native.
