What is it?

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

THis is its seed pod....there were lots of these spiny pods and millions of seeds.

The plant itself has a big thick hollow stem, gets about 5' tall here, and has little trumpet shaped flowers. It was interesting, but I have no idea where it came from and given the vigorous growth and huge seed production, fear that it is an invasive.

Could it be a Datura? It has trumpet shaped flowers but the blooms aren't little. Laverne

It IS datura!! It was pretty but after seeing its vigor I wondered if I should let it grow. I have lots of seeds, maybe I'll grow ONE again next year!

Thanks for the guess. I didn't even know where to start!

Does it have large flowers?

I had them( white ones) reseed for a few years, then they never came back:( I don't think they will go wild on you & the babies are easy to move or get rid of if you do it early. My sister hated them popping up all over, I liked it. :)Anita

Maybe I'll start some of the seed I saved. It was a cool plant! And not much goes hogwild in this climate.

Oh, I know, only the weeds go hog wild on us:)
