**YULETIDE MYSTERY QUILT CLUE 3**

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! here comes clue 3. Keep in mind that the examples given are colored just to show placement. The colors you choose for your own quilt are completely up to you, but do follow the light/dark designation.

Next set of blocks:

You will need to make four 6.5 inch 9 patch blocks with the dark squares on the X. The easiest way to make a 9 patch this size is to cut twenty 2.5 inch squares from your medium/dark fabrics and sixteen 2.5 inch squares from your light fabrics. Sew your rows together in this order and press seam towards the dark fabric:

dark/light/dark
light/dark/light
dark/light/dark

then join the 3 rows together to look like this. They should measure at 6.5 inches when you are done sewing the rows together.

To make these half sized, cut squares as follows:

twenty 1.5 inch squares of medium/dark fabrics
sixteen 1.5 inch squares of light fabrics

blocks should measure at 3.5 inches and be sure to use a scant 1/4 inch seam when stitching blocks this small.
