November...color in your garden ??

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

What is still blooming in your garden?
Where do you still have color?

We are having some great warm weather for this time of year here so I went out to see where the color was, and found this hardy geranium looking great.

Helianthus & Double Knockout Rose are still blooming.

Wow, I always thought of pineapple sage as a full sun plant, but clearly they can tolerate more shade than I thought. I have one blooming right now -- the only thing in the garden still in bloom. I think I'll plant a few more next year, to get color throughout the yard.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Loligo, Yes, Another DGer told me that the Pineapple Sage would do quite well in semi shade. This particular area is quite shaded, yet it does very well. I plan to plant more next year too.

Actually, I planted it also to try Ladygardener's Pineapple Sage Pound Cake recipe that it listed in Plant Files. She is a great baker and her recipes are always top notch. I like the idea of putting the blooms right into the batter. Look it up!

My geraneum sanguineum always has nice fall color.

Very nice, Weerobin. I can't find any of my Geraniums with all of the leaves! Not many of my plants have taken on their fall colors yet, not even the Heuchera. It's been too warm here.

we are beyond colors now.
This is the last of the mums.
Pretty pathetic

Wow that really is red. My roses are looking great in their fall flush.

And my crepe myrtle and Ash tree leaves are starting to turn color. Sorry no photo. But the color I like the most now is this purple salvia and the new canes on this rose. Can you see the red of the thorns? they don't stay red as it matures.

Other than a few annuals still a bloom, I've got this self-seeded Purple Coneflower and a couple of chrysanthemums ...

these Chinese Lanterns are way beyond blooming but do lend some mid-fall color to the otherwise pretty dilapidated garden scene:

WOW they look great

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

jmorth, I've been trying to get those lanterns out of my shrub bed for 4 years. They are persistant suckers who think the whole bed should belong to them.

Mine compete with spearmint and ivy in an 'off the beaten path' part of the garden...

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL Guess it's hard to tell who's going to win that one!!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

This Daylily appeared yesterday.

It's been mostly warm here. There was 1 freeze and a few days that it didn't get above 55, but it's been close to 70 since Saturday and most of last week.

I keep hoping this one will make it.
