Pretty!

I was talking to our neighbor and we had very few T or T'ers arround here also.
Both Eric and Jon had candy left over.

Our cross the street and down neighbors (renters) are moving out.
They've been there a year and seemed to be OK.
Their daughter is the one who came over and fed the fish a few weeks back.
The house needs a lot of work. They want to buy it but the asking price is FAR too high.
Oh well..... hate breaking in new neighbors.... lol!

They will be ungrading our gas lines here in a bit.
Word is when they are done they will pave the street!
Be weird not to have the gravel after 20 years.... LOL!

We've hit 50° and rising!
Sunny and dead Calm

Cute deco Celia! We went out, never get any T or T out here. Seems the T or T's are becoming fewer and fewer every year.

No T and Ts here either except for my 2 yr old nephew. We live in the country and no one comes down our street. Not even the few kids who live on my road.

Sunny and nice as long as you stand in the sun. Brisk breeze but anymore you can't have a nice day without the blasted breeze. lol

Happy All Saints Day! :-) We had about 2 dozen T&T'ers last night. We haven't been home on Halloween night for several years - usually our church has its fall party then. This year they did it on Friday (so they had an extra day to clean up all of the loose hay and candy wrappers before Sunday morning, I suspect!), so we were home. We let the girls answer the door and pass out candy, which they thought was very fun. :-) Charles and I took turns supervising. The last time we passed out candy, we had a lot more kids, so we bought a LOT this year. We have a ton left over.. I'm going to send it to Charles' work with him tomorrow. There are a bunch of guys there, and it will be gone in a couple of hours. Otherwise we'll eat it, and we really really don't need it!!

Your daughter's vampire costume was excellent, Joanna, and yes, leaving off the red eye feature definitely enhanced the look. LOL

It's a beautiful day here... There's not a cloud in the sky, and it's 73° with a slight breeze. So far it looks like it is going to stay like this all week. We may be spending a lot of homeschool time at the top of the play fort in the back yard!

Here are the bunnies' costumes. Joy is a flying squirrel. The little bunny (Katie) is.. well, a bunny. I know, it's a stretch. LOL

Lots of nice costumes. We didn't get any T or Ts this year. Usually we get a few and I don't have anything to give out. This year I had pencils and stickers and no one showed up.

Great costumes, and the bunny is so cute!

Man, Dave has been cranky all day and it's just getting worse, if I say anything he hushes me but has nothing good to say about anyone. I decided to take refuge on the computer but that's not working either, it's bedtime anyway. Been feeling really lonely today too.

Great costumes!!!!!!

Sorry you were feeling lonely, Crissy. You know you can call or text me anytime.

Sunny and +11ºC or 52ºF

Went to a ski hill (near Banff) for work today. I went 1/2 way up the mountain in a truck with chains on the wheels and the rest of the way up on a snowmobile. The dude driving the snowmobile was hanging off it for balance most of the time. I hung on white knuckled the whole way. When I got to my destination, I was a little wobbly legged and a bit concerned about the ride down. The slopes are very steep and we snowmobiled up it in a zig zag. The snow making machines were going full tilt, so there were spots that were like going thru a blizzard. It's been 20 years since I downhill skied in the mountains and I don't think I will be skiing anytime soon...too scary.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I like the bunny hills. LOL. And only if I have poles to help me stop because I can't stop the other 2 ways. lol

Sunny this morning then cloudy and breezy. Temps in the mid 50s.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Marylynn I LOVE those costumes!
The Flying Squirrel one is inspired!
We saw one this weekend.
Somehow it got on our neighbor's porch, we think a gust of wind, and their cat almost got it.
They trapped it and took it back to it's Giant Oak tree and it scampered on up.

Sounds like fun Joanna! Seriously.
Why were you there for work?

Well we finally broke out the Furnace.
Well actually we 'tuned' it and tried it out.
We save a ton by doing this ourselves.
New filter, which in our case means lifting the stair landing.
Oiled the Squirrel Cage. Cleaned out the gas tubes. Replaced the Thermocouple.
Then since we were down in the hole.
Put in a new draft free drier vent and caulked it in.
Then took off all the registers and ran a vac/brush all the way through cleaning the ductwork.
Re-leveled the dryer and washer...Hey we were right there.
Cleaned the ceiling fan....
Re-leveled the Thermostat... fired that baby up.....
It ran thru 2 cycles perfectly... so we should be good for the winter.

Now that the leaves are mostly gone we're getting great heat gain from the two GH's.
Before we test fired the furnace it was 64° in the Porch GH...... 48° outside.
It rose to 70° by late afternoon. Some from the furnace most from the Sun.
It was 68° in the Roof GH... at noon.... no supplimental heat.
Once we slap the second layer of plastic on the east end we should easily hit the low 80's by late afternoon there.
We're going to set the heater thermostat out there to 44°....
that should only kick on on cloudy super cold days or late night/early morning.

Had to go check out their repeater for their two-way radios. As it so happens, repeaters are located at the highest point of the area with a little building

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

So of course they waited until the snow was flying to test them eh? LOL!

I'm away from here for two days and way behind again! LOL

first things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CRISSYR!!

I had more trick or treaters this year than ever and even at that it wasn't more that 15 or 20. I live on a busy street so most folks take their kids through the subdivision behind me.
Marylyn: great job on the costumes--you made the flying squirrel costume this year, correct?
Joanna--the red eye certainly enhanced the effect of your daughter's photo--LOL I would have been hyperventilating after a ride like you took!!!
Ric: you and Robyn are work-aholics--LOL Come on down here when you run out of stuff to do--I have a list of things that need to be done around here!!

We have had 3 picture perfect days for a change and more forecast for the rest of the week--Hooray! Sunshine is great, temps are great--as I said: picture perfect. The plants seem to know that this will be their last hurrah for the season and they are making the most of it. The knock-out roses are putting on a show.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Mau it looks like you have some Bolete 'shrooms there.
There should be pores not gills on the underside.
Some are cool... if you break off a piece the oxidize like and apple.
Some turn bright blue.
Our Coneflowers are LONG gone now...

Cooler weather has definitely slid in.
We'll be in the 50's and sunny til the weekend, 30's at night.
The weekend is shaping up nicely mid upper 60's and sunny!

Today we'll be putting the 'winter skin' on the HT.
Basically we just cover the enclosure to keep out the cold winds.
Also we need to get the last of the plants inside or dunked deep into the ponds.
Looks like we might have dome mid /upper 20's coming in the next few nights.

Ric

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

mid-upper 20's! BRRRRR. We are supposed to be in the low 40's at night and in the 60's during the day this week.
Guess I need to get all the EE's I got from the RU into the storage shed--it is insulated so they won't freeze this winter. I think they will be fine in there till spring.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Yeah Summer is gone... it's settling in mentally...lol!

We've started dragging out the Holiday Decorations.
That's Robyn's gig mostly.
Usually she goes all out in the front yard.
This year it's going to be the newly redesigned back that gets most of the treatment.
(BUT much of the lighting will be permanent so we'll concentrate the LED and Solar lights there.)
BTW Lowe's and HD are already discounting lights...... all non-LED's at this point....
we bought some C7's that were $9.97 just last week for $6.87 yesterday....

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, they are greatly appreciated! I'm going to treat myself to a chiropractor appt at 3, the bone spurs on my tailbone are letting me know I'm a year older. If I had thought about it I would have scheduled myself a massage too! I'll do it anyway for another day and have the birthday that keeps on giving!

Another beautiful day, bright, sunny, and in the low 60's. Nice!

LOL Ric, when I read about your lighting and thought it said something about permanent lightning, was wondering how you could make lightning permanent...

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Happy Birthday, Crissy!! ^_^

Marilyn, that's right... I just made the flying squirrel costume this year; the bunny costume is from last year. Next year Katie will get to choose a new one - hopefully something not tooooo complicated. LOL

Bernie, I'm enjoying lurking on your construction thread!

It's another gorgeous day here. 77°, not a cloud in the sky, amazingly low humidity (for Houston), and just a light breeze. All of the windows are open, and the cats are going from window sill to window sill, watching birds and squirrels, and growling at the mailman. I've never had cats that growled at passers-by before... it's pretty funny! They have no problem with people coming into the house... only with them walking past the windows. LOL

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Wow, I missed a whole thread!
Happy Birthday, Crissy!
I've been busy with DH's BD on Saturday, doing BBQ and ice-cream, then with a new article and I missed posting the pictures on the photo contest...so much for the news!
Weather has been bad, very cold , freezing last night and a few snowflakes this morning. Now we have a rainstorm and the temps went up a bit to 37.
Nice to see your flowers, Mau!
I'm happy everyone is OK after the storm.
Great pics everyone! Sunset a few days ago.

Chilly, mostly sunny and no more leaves in the big trees. lol.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Pretty much the same as pepper.
Cool though not chilly.

Welcome back Adina!
Pretty!!

The plastic is now covering the HT enclosure so the winter winds can now blow.
Tomorrow I'll add the tarp over so the cats don't slice the plastic.
Lights have all been found and will start going up too....

They don't get fired up until Thanksgiving night.
That's our tradition.

Happy Birthday, Crissy!

We got rained out at lunch time so I took the afternoon to do some Cabinet business.
Lady ordered a $1100.00 entertainment center. Stopped at a senior apartment complex, 117 units. Man wants someone to be on call to replace cabinet doors. He said they get beat up pretty bad from wheelchairs & scooters. This place is only a couple years old. He wasn't there, so another man showed me the cabinets so I can figure some kind of ongoing price. I will call the man tomorrow & see what we come up with.

Also hauled home some more materials.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Sounds like an excellent ongoing contract to get Bernie.
Good news on the new order too!
