Orchids of November

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

I purposefully held off posting pics since the blooms were so close to November!

I'll start with my Paph niveum...small plant, big bloom...perfect for limited space!

I took the pic outside and it was windy so the flower is a little blurry...here is a closer shot between the gusts!

I guess Ron is taller than mom or is that pop? Thanks for the November thread, Todd. I tried to get pics this AM but it was dark and I was lousy at staying still.
Here's a few. Barkerara Samurai 'Warrior'.

Almost lost my Bllra. Peggy Ruth Carpenter so I'm happy to see 2 blooms. It had 7 spikes last year before the rot hit.

Nice opening for the month you guys! I covet one of those zygo's - Kathy how do you keep yours from getting the fungal spotting that Todd mentioned at the end of October's thread? All the ones I've seen here are usuallly all spotted...

Beauties Kathy!

Ron is taller than the niveum...but then primulinum is also taller than niveum...also Ron is sequential with 3 flowers per stem (another aspect from primulinum)...I have 2 other primary niveum crosses that will be similar in appearance to Ron Williamson, if they ever bloom!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Almost bought a white paph at the show today but decided that I have enough Paphs not blooming! I bought all miniatures today.

Fair Lawn, NJ(Zone 6b)

Kathy, what kind of miniatures did you buy?
Very pretty Slc. Mem. Alvin Begeman 'Poem'. And yes, cute lips on those buds too.
[btw. try to explain to 2.5 year olds the difference between lips, 2 lips and tulips. :-) ]

Todd, I especially like the Paph niveum, nice bloom and plant!

The Zygo surely smells real nice?
About the rupicolous Laelias, here is my Laelia crispilabia. The first bloom opened a couple of days ago.

Here is the whole plant. I got it in March 2008 from Andy's Orchids/

And picked up at the same time, Stanhopea connata from Woodland Orchids. The first of 2 spikes opened and the scent is very strong, a sweet mix with distinctive Camphor overtones.

Adding to the mixture of scents in the greenhouse is a long spike of Onc. Sharry Baby. (A second spike had fallen victim to the voracious Slugs whilst still in the cage.) I looped the spike a bit around for it to fit into the picture.
