Yes, Alda, most cultivars of clematis definitely hardy in Zone 8b. There are quite a few avid gardeners of clematis in our zone. Also, if you check the zone maps... parts of England and Japan are also zone 8b or even warmer... and that's where many of the cultivars are hybridized. =)
