My JM (the Aconitifolium that has the branches that grow too close) has this weird growth that I just noticed on the root. It seems to be splitting the root bark. Anybody know what this is, and whether it is anything to worry about? Thank you
odd growth on root
it looks like the root split and it is healing it's wound - will be interested in what others think
It does looks like the bark split probably too wet may have happened this spring it was super wet and cool in ME. but unless it is the only root (unlikley ) or it somehow starts rotting from too much water I don't see it as a big deal.it is clean with nio sign of disease.. JM's get these abnormalities in non JM preferred areas especially you get a season like this year that has been so odd..I would bet it will heal up unless as i said it continues to get bad weather treatment.
