Atlantic Ghost Crab (Ocypode quadrata)
What a cutie!!!
Yes it is cute, but why is this in the Bug Files? Its a crustacean, LOL. Neat little guy though.
heheh i had asked this question before as well XD
Admin response was this:
"Hi LadyAshleyR,
We do have several species and families that are not technically
insects in BugFiles. There are many spiders and some scorpions, as
well as millipedes and others. We tried to create a database with
creatures that members would find in their gardens. If at some point
we get enough of these other families to create their own databases,
we will expand the sections to give them their own home.
It may not be totally scientific, but as most gardeners are just
looking for an id, we included some of the more common individuals in
BugFiles even though they are not insects, and not all insects are
'bugs' but the average gardener is not aware of that as well.
If you have further questions, please let us know.
Happy Gardening,
melody"
