Saw this warbler at my sisters place. I know it is one of 2 types of warblers. I'm posting several pics of him to show some different features. BTW my sis lives near Cape May down the shore but a little inland in a large wooded area with lots of berry bushes and trees.
Lets call this bird #1
CLOSED: Warbler ID's Please
Not for sure on both, but maybe for the first one a (fall) Pine Warbler and for the 2nd (fall) Prairie Warbler.
I wasn't thinking Pine Warbler at all on the first one but thank you Burd!
Fluffy warbler!
:-))
Orange-crowned for #1 (not Pine, that has white wing bars).
Palm Warbler, yellower eastern subspecies, for #2 - note the black base to the underside of the tail and yellow undertail coverts (Prairie has all-white underside of the tail and whitish undertail coverts).

Hi Resin, Thank you.
Did you consider immature Mourning Warbler? That was one that my photos seem to match seeing that this one has a brownish hood instead of grey on an immature Orange-crowned.
Thanks!
I ruled out Orange-crowned because of all the yellow on No.1. I thought Pine Warbler because my field guide said wing-bars are duller in fall and winter. No.2 was a toss up between Prairie and (Yellow) Palm Warbler, got it wrong. Getting it wrong only helps me get better, but fall Warbler's are very challenging to say the least.
I appreciate the effort Burd! They (fall ones) are difficult.
Took another look at the first warbler, and brightened it in photoshop - turns out (somewhat to my surprise) it's another Palm Warbler - note again the undertail pattern of a black base and white outer half. Sorry, not Mourning, that's structurally different, with a shorter, broader tail (all-dark below) that only extends a short way beyond the undertail coverts.

Thanks for the second look Resin! LOL, I guess I should have kept my mouth shut because an Orange-crowned would have been a new bird for me but I would rather have the truth anyway.
Thanks again! ^_^
T'was my turn for a new bird today . . . Britain's first-ever Eastern Crowned Warbler (from northeastern China!) was found not far from here, so I went to see it this afternoon. Photos here http://www.birdguides.com/bne/details.asp?thread=588137 (if you can see it - may be subscribers only)

This one should be OK: http://www.birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=1784

Very cool!!!!
Congrats on the new bird Resin!
Thanks! Definitely a good one to see - it's come at least 7,000 km to get here.
It's even been on the national news headlines http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/8322447.stm

That's quite a distance to stray, was he eating anything?
Yep, it was eating aphids a lot, and also catching larger flies. It's still mild here so it wasn't having any difficulty finding food.
Resin
Cripes, it's even got the 'Local Boy Makes Good' treatment!!

Seems it's moved on though, no sign today according to birdline reports.
