Black Fly/Aphids?

Redondo Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Can anyone tell me what they think this is? They are incredibly small black flies all over my nastursiums. Thank you! Rusty

The photo looks like aphids - sucking insects that can be dispatched with soapy water. Have you seen them fly? Aphids don't fly....

If they do fly, there is a blackfly - a whitefly that is black.

Checking this out - I find that some people actually plant nasturtium to lure the blackfly away from other veggie crops. Nasturtium seems to be a blackfly magnet.

You can use soapy water or neem oil to get rid of them.
