I bought several clematis from Bluestone this week. I could put them under lights for the winter or put them in pots and leave them outside. Our lowest temperature last year was minus 3 degrees. Do they need a dormant period during the winter. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Now what should I do?
Did you actually receive them or just order them? They're not shipping to z5 or lower til spring so they may hold yours til then if you email. I have small ones in gallon pots in the garage that I'm going to bury when it gets a little warmer next week, then cover with leaves before it freezes again. I'm not sure if they really need a cold period, but people do grow them where it is warmer so maybe not.
