This plant was in our yard when we moved here. It is in shade and I wonder if it needs more sun. It dies back each winter. What is it and should I move it to a sunnier location?

It looks like a lace cap hydrangea to me. Filtered light would probably be best, full sun will be too much and full shade will limit the flowers.
Thanks to moretz and ardesia. I will move it where it will get more sun.
