pumpkins, gourds, etc. for decorating

Does anyone know if there is something I can put on overgrown okra
so I can use it for decorating like you might do with gourds or pumpkins or something????
Like something that prevents it from going bad ????
All the rain last week made some mighty big okra QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
