Garden History Item today: 1919: The American Dahlia Society held its first annual dahlia show in New York City.
Happy Anniversary to this Great Society!
Happy Anniversary to the ADS
How sweet of you to take notice, DN.
I don't know what we would have done without them pirl. They have done a wonderful job with classification which is used pretty much internationally now except for Britian. I shudder to think what it would be like if every order was a crap shoot about what you were going to get!
That would definitely not be on Martha's "good things" list if it were all a crap shoot.
As it is the HD's of this world give us enough headaches. I plant by color so the dahlia that is supposed to be red and yellow mixed is just solid red. It's still pretty but not what I wanted there. It was also supposed to be 4 to 5' tall.
Bummer. But it is prettiful as you say ^_^
