acer ID who can help

Toronto, ON(Zone 6b)

I found this interesting acer (maple) but I don't know what it is. The tree seems to be grafted because there is a very ordinary looking branch growing from the soil-line. The habit is that of a large shrub, but the leaves are unusual. Have a look, I would appreciate any help... I took some seed, I will see if I can start some. Robb

There are some very dissected leaf forms of Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) that wouldn't be unusual to find around your location. Without additional pictures of stems, branches, or buds, it's hard to say for sure that is what you have there.
