I purchased several bearded iris thru a co-op last year, built new beds for them, planted them, and they bloomed! Why move them? The bed doesn't drain as quickly as I'd like and I did lose a few to rot.
My question is: when (if) do I trim the leaves? before moving them? I've been pulling out any dead leaves on the ground but most are still very green and healthy looking.
Here's my Can Can Red. Ain't she a beauty?
Moving my iris - some advice please?
Trim the leaves back as you move them. It is to prevent loss of moisture in transplants.
Thanks, irisMA!
Looking at the photo of yard and I love the way you have placed everything. I have a triangle shape to the side of the front entry that has so much rock it is impossible to plant in and I think I could use the stones as you have and plant in them. Thanks for the idea.
