All are just as pretty as they can be!

The vine you have in the first picture ( fall clematis,) grows wild here in the woods. I have it in mine and I have been trying for 7 years to get rid of it. Yes it is pretty and smells great, but it comes up all through my yard and and wraps around anything it can. It will kill a tree by smothering it.

Hi JMorth - can you tell me what kind of Clematis you have? It's just beautiful. I'm assuming it grows really fast? Can it grow in the shade?

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Sweet Autumn Clematis, Sweet Autumn Virgin's Bower or Clematis paniculata. Sometimes listed as Clematis terniflora. It is a swift grower, and can extend great distances both laterally and vertically. It can also self seed but for the 10 years plus that hasn't been too big of a problem yet. My grows pretty much in full sun but some of the verticals scale some weed trees in partial shade. It blooms almost every year on Sept 1st for me.
