What can the non-commercial gardener do about Gladiolus Rust? The glads at my community garden plot were affected by this new "bother" just this year, and they were not at their best by a long shot. Should I dig up the corms and re-plant them later? I can't use the industrial-strength stuff that the commercial growers use!
Gladiolus Rust
You might check with your county Extension agent. There is a new rust from South Africa that is moving about and I have read that it is now in California. They are trying desperately to stop it, and if your rust is that one, they will recommend removal. It has a distinctive look to it, and they will probably want to check it out.
