I awoke on Monday to see my most prized red cloak completely decimated by the dogs overnight, I have been nurturing this plant for ages and was heartbroken. I still see root and the stub of where it got whacked, do you think any chance it will spring back?

Definitly. I whack them frequently and they are 13 feet tall again.
