I took a PMC class last weekend, and find this stuff somewhat intriguing. I think it's actually more expensive and time consuming than traditional jewelry methods, but there's not as much outlay in equipment up front. I'm still in glass fusing mode, so I haven't tried it at home yet. Here's a ring I made on the second day, and used liver of sulfur to add the patina. I'm still unsure of how much time and money I want to devote to this.
