I don't know the particular name for this canna, but I have some that bloom yellow and some bloom orange, then a few that are tropicanna black that bloom red flowers. I see these fuzzy looking pods on the tops of almost all of them. Some are about to bloom again as well. Are these seed pods? If so, can someone give me some info on how/when to harvest them?
Are these canna seeds?
Well, from the picture they look like empty pods. A lot of hybrids will produce these but never develop seeds. If it had seeds you would wait to harvest until the outer skin starts to dry and turn brown, the seeds will be black, round, and vary in size from about 1/8" to 1/4".
Thank you. Several of these fuzzy/hairy "pods" are dried up on the plant. I'll keep an eye on the others to see if I see any signs of a seed. These "pods" are still closed up looking. Would the seed be inside the pod or attached to it?
Inside the pod. That they look closed up is why I think they are seedless.
