I photographed this plant on the arid desert-like terrain of Ladakh in August 1992. I am curious about its ID. Is it some sort of Conyza sp (family Asteraceae) or is it Laggera sp? The plant is growing at an altitude of 11,500 ft. Thanks for any help.
Flowering plant from Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, India
Could it be an Acacia of some type? I saw something similar in Austin, Texas and was told it was an Acacia - I can't really tell much about the leaves and blooms from your picture.
A higher resolution photo closer up, especially of the flowers would be more helpful.
Yes, a higher resolution, sharper photo would definitely help. I am afraid this is the only photo I have. Thanks anyway. Regards.
Looks like a Helichrysum. Maybe Helichrysum italicum.
i was lucky enough to spend some time in Kashmir and Ledakh. What an awesome place.
Is that a pungent smelling plant or a spicey fragrance?
They have a balmy smell.
Well, I will go for Helichrysum italicum. But does it grow at 11,000 ft. in arid, desert condition? Anyway, thank you all.
Hi Five, Dave!!!! You are really really good!!!!!
We have Helichrysum here at high altitude.
H. italicum is possible for Amitray's area.
Thank you, Metrosideros
