Is this a fall webworm?
He was munching on my heucheras.

It looks like a fall webworm. Check out these two websites:

The webworm in the photo at the Penn State website looks just like the one in your photo.

Thanks, I've been looking for the webs in the trees but haven't seen any, wonder where he came from???

I think it's still a little early for them to start making their webs.

We had a lot of webworms in our area last fall. A lot of trees had webs. I think this was the first time I had webs on any of my trees. There were some in the redbud tree in my front yard and in some of the trees in the woods out back and had to prune out some branches. I'll be watching for them this year.
