Odd coneflowers

These have self sown in my bed, where I have White Swan, Ruby Star and Sunset growing. Note the double cones on these white ones. I've never seen that before and lots of them on that plant have the double cones.

And on this plant, the flower petals are pink on one side and completely white on the back side. You can see the white where the petals are curled up on the edges.

Nice photos. I'm guessing those are seeds that are self sewn from the hybrids?

Yes, self sown. I'm guessing the pink and white one is some kind of cross from Ruby Star and White Swan.

hart, your first picture shows flowers with a mutation that is called 'fasciation'.

fasciation can be a genetic variation or it can be caused a variety of environmental factors from bacterial infection, mite or insect attack to chemical or mechanical damage.

Thanks, Greenthumbs. I know about fasciation. I don't think this is fasciation any more than the double coneflowers like Razzmatazz are fasciation.
