problems with a seedling of a peach tree (?)

Moorestown, NJ(Zone 6b)

While weeding out the garden I yanked out a seedling of tree germinating from an open peach tree (at least that's what I think it was). Since it was too close to the house anyway, and it was already uprooted, I planted it in a sunny corner of the backyard, adjacent to a stick of fertilizer (visible to the left in the picture). Even though it rained overnight, the leaves are becoming dark and wilting in less than 24 hours. Is the whole thing pointless, or is there a chance it will thrive?

Thanks!

That doesn't look like a Peach unless I'm seeing wrong. What chance a Walnut?
To answer the question If it was absolutely bare root you would have to be lucky to replant a deciduous tree in mid Summer. However it's not dead until it is all shrivelled up so keep your fingers crossed perhaps cover with a plastic bag to lessen dehydration.

Thanks! Originally, we did think it was a walnut from the shape of the nut, but later I remembered my children burying peach pits, and double-guessed myself.
