I have some very overgrown petreas in my garden and would love to know how to successfully prune them. I had one lovely reply form Florida, but are there any more people out there who have experience with this? How hard can I prune? Is it safe to cut into old wood? Some advise is to prune lightly, others say cut hard back. I do not want to lose the plants. Any advise gratefully received.
Pruning Pertrea (Sandpaper Vine)
I had not heard of that vine before .. like you said, some advise pruning lightly and some hard.
I found this article:
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/florida_gardening/19579
and this one:
http://www.krika.com/Tropical%20Garden/Montserrat%20Tropical%20Garden%20P.html
of which both recommend hard pruning. Apparently it's a very fast grower.

If your 'handle' means you are really a Trinnie any idea where I can get seeds? Wish I was outside Smokey and Bunty's having a lovely Roti or a doubles LOL
