I usually cut the leaves back to about 6 inches on my iris after they bloom. Is that ok for them?
They bloom nicely in the spring, so I don't think it is hurting them, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I cut them back a few weeks ago, and already they are growing back again. Should I just let them grow, or can I keep the cut back. I would rather keep them shorter, so I can see the other things behind them, for the summer. Then let them grow back the first of sept or so. What do you all do with yours? I know some people mow them, but I could never do that! It seems so cruel lol
Cutting back the leaves
Unless the plant has leaf spot I would not cut back them back or dividing and replanting, the leaves bring the rz its energy to store for increases and its bloom the following year.
