Yes. But only red wigglers are really going to do the job well. There are different breeds of red wigglers.
You cannot mix regular earthworms though in a bin.
Many folks also are starting to use European Nightcrawlers for composting, though I don't have any personal experience with them. They are supposed to be hardier than redworms, but that could just be the sales pitch!
