Cherry Tree Question

Someone asked me this question and I have no clue what the answer is.

Question: My cherry tree was loaded with buds this spring but when it came time for them to bloom, they opened up and there were no blooms. What happened?

Can someone help me with this? I have no clue how or why this could have happened.

How old is your tree? Have you moved it recently? What sort of cherry is it?
