How to define this plant ?
It's an Hybrid or an Spontaneous Mutation . It come from volunteer seedling, I always have Amaranthus in the garden with velvet foliage ( Amaranthus Cruentus ) - like Pygmy Torch, Oeshberg, Elephant Head etc....
This year I find for the first time this plant, a mix of velvet leaf and brown-green leaf.
It's the " Cleopatra " ( canna ) of the Amaranthus .
I hope he survive and produce a lot of seeds !

That is very pretty! I don`t know about the leaves but that sure is interesting. It reminds me of the "Summer Poinsettia" amaranthus. Some of mine sprouted completely burgundy while others were variegated green and burgundy. I haven`t see any with leaves like that yet.
