I planted DL on a bank 7 years ago. For one thing and another, I abaondoned the bank. When I came back to it last year, cleared off 12 feet tall briars and pine tree volunteers, underneath, blooming merrily away, were DL. I cleared everything, lifted in early spring, replanted in good soil, and WOW they bloomed!
