Dale, I don't think that there is a wrong or a right way to group plants. But I do think that groupings look better if you mix heights. I also use plant stands of various heights and will group small pots on small tables or around larger pots. It is tempting to just line pots up in a row - - but I think periodic groupings of 3-5 pots is more pleasing and provides a better focal point. I also try to make use of things that I already have like this broken birdbath that I converted into a plant stand. The petunias quickly covered my repaired area and I love how it turned out. Nat
