Is it normal for a young shrub, just planted in spring, to suddenly grow several very tall branches (4 or 5 feet)? Both of my ninebarks did this around the 4th of July. This pic was taken that day. Will the rest of the branches catch up or should I cut the long ones down to the size of the rest of the branches - about 1 and 1/2 feet now? My forsythia, planted same time, did this too!
