You are looking at the first pumpkin over a thousand pounds ever grown in our part of Pennsylvania. About a half dozen growers achieve this or a heavier one each year. The record here is just under fifteen hundred pounds while the world record is just under seventeen hundred pounds. The answers are: About seven hundred pies. It grows in ninety days just like any other pumpkin. Most of them get carved. They get loaded with back hoes and fork lifts. Many get wholesaled to major population area garden centers. The retail price is about two dollars a pound plus delivery. |
