I chose pruning group 3 so I could whack everything down every year. I never see Venosa Violacea offered at local nurseries, this really isn't clematis country I guess and they don't offer too many choices. It is a shame because the details of Venosa Violacea are so pretty, the dark stamens and pretty white star. It makes me happy every time I look at it, and mine has been blooming a long time, since March. The pictures were taken yesterday.
