That's interesting about the otter. I never knew they would go after a muskrat. I just thought they ate small stuff, like frogs, crayfish, fish, etc. That muskrat looks as big or bigger than that otter. Are you sure it's not a mink? I read the river otters are 3-4 ft. long and weigh in at 44-82 lbs. Muskrats are 16-24 inches and weigh only 1.5-4 lbs. On the other hand, mink get 18-30 inches and weigh up to 7 lbs. Mink and otters are members of the same family that includes ferrets, weasels, wolverine and badgers.
