Rann, that traffic jam was caused by elk. We also saw bison traffic jams. (Is it true that in Europe, what Americans call an elk is called a wapiti and what Americans call a moose is called an elk?) I read that none of the geysers in Iceland are in their natural state - all have been turned into spas or geothermal plants. Is that true? Since geyser is an Icelandic word, how is it pronounced in Icelandic (the best you can phoentically spell it)? We heard British people calling them "geezers".

Marylyn, DH usually gets trips to the glamour capitols, too, like Tulsa and Phoenix. He's never been to Japan before. Neither have I. He didn't seem all that thrilled to be going, but the conference he'll be attending will be boring.

No rain, but this was the coolest day we've had in a long time. They're calling for it to be hot again next week.
