I agree with LAURIEF that the Historic Preservation Iris society (HIPPS) is a good start. The problem is finding a lot of the iris cultivars from the distant past. HIPPS usually has a list of historic irises that are donated by members to be sold to others. The definition of a historic iris is opne that was introduced 30 years ago, I think. That means that the introductions from the seventies are becoming eligible to become historics. If you go through the American Iris Society website (www.irises.org) and go to links and then commercial links, there are several suppliers that offer historic iris that you might like. Good luck! |
