Astonishingly there is a third root that will be a serious girdling root in a year or two. It is about an 1" in diameter. I did not remove it. It isn't causing trouble right now and I didnt want to cut any more roots right now. I'll wait until next year after leaf out. If the tree is doing OK then I'll take it out. My DH says this Magnolia is suicidal. Thank goodness for experienced landscapers who know their stuff.
