wickerparker, that is a soft, lovely one you've got there. If there is only one bloom, often Oriental lilies will face up when thats the case, but will achieve their normal placement when they develop a mature stem with multiple blooms. One of my 5 Backhouse martagons from Brent&Becky's was a no id. Did you only purchase 1 bulb, or was that just the only noid in the group?

Catherine, thats so beautiful how the lilies towers over everything else, looking down on the rest of the garden. That looks very rich in color for a Regale, could it be Pink Perfection?

That reminds me, I have an orangy trumpet, African Queen if I recall correctly, that bloomed well last year and looked like it was going to be amazing this year. It reached a good 6-7' and had tons of buds, which all turned brown and fell off when the biggest ones were about 1 1/2" long. Still has a massive stalk with lots of healthy looking leaves, but I'm wondering what would cause that.

Other lilies in the bed with them have been fine, actually seem extra happy. These 'Starfighter' are in that bed.
