I should have some baby Goldfinches in my garden soon too. There is a nest a couple of feet from the top of my Ceanothus, which is at least 10 feet tall. I noticed it last year after they had finished nesting, I felt sure it was a Goldfinche's nest.

I looked at it not long ago and saw it was still in good condition. There was a couple of dead stems hanging down around the nest which I decided to leave 'just in case'. I have seen a Goldfinch in the Acacia tree behind it often, and lately the female had been sitting on my Nectarine tree which doesn't make nectarines.

Today I saw a Goldfinch fly down to near the nest, which is in the 'V' at the bottom of the pic..
