I'd just like to say that anyone wanting to propagate figs should try layering. I have tried propagating them from cuttings many times but have always failed.

This time I scratched off a section of bark about an inch long, wrapped the area with moist sphagnum moss, and then placed aluminum foil around it. After about four weeks, I removed the branch. Then I removed the foil and there were many roots about two inches long. I put them in 3gal pots with potting soil, and after two more weeks the roots have grown to the edge of the pots. This method really works!
